How To Disable The Bixby Button on Your Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 plus or Note 8

With the launch of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus this year, Samsung included a hardware button to launch Samsung’s digital assistant. It was met with a huge backlash from the phone community and some users started looking for ways to remap that hardware button. This is because Bixby was not yet ready for launch in the US market and the button was of no use.

There were tonnes of third-party apps in the play store to remap the Bixby hardware button. Samsung jumped in and disabled the functionality to remap the button.

But after some time, Samsung might have time to rethink their actions. Now they have sent a new update which supports disabling the Bixby hardware button. Here are the steps to disable Bixby hardware button.

  • Open Bixby by pressing the side button
  • Check for updates if there are any.
  • On the main screen of Bixby, tap the gear/settings icon
  • Now you can see the option to toggle the Bixby key ON/OFF
  • Tap the icon to OFF position.
